Newly sworn in Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh could face his first politically charged case after a New York appeals court ordered Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to answer questions about putting a citizenship question on the 2020 census.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday [Oct.9, 2018] said Ross can be deposed by lawyers who claim he and others acted improperly. It gave the government two days to appeal to the high court.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg [a/k/a Notorious RBG] has issued a stay on an appeals court decision ordering Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to be deposed about putting a citizenship question on the 2020 census. [empasis added]
The Court of Appeals ruling and stay at the Supreme Court follows an earlier appeal to the Supreme Court (via the assigned justice, Notorious RBG) bouncing the case back to the Court of Appeals panel to ensure appellant (the U.S. of A.) exhausted its remedies.
As you probably know, Wilbur Ross (a/k/a the Grinch who Stole Silverware), U.S. Secretary of Commerce under the current U.S. President, is entangled in an interlocutory appeal of a U.S. District Court order to submit to a deposition as to his alleged request to the Department of Justice to add the citizenship question to the 2020 census questionnaire (and related questions for Wilbur concerning his earlier lies to Congress re: same and whether political considerations had any bearing on this matter (Duh)).
Wilbur does not seem terribly excited about providing a depositon in the case. He is much too busy cheating his business parters and lying to Forbes (and Trump) about how tall his stack of gold is. Keep an eye on this one.
