NPS proposes new special regulations related to demonstrations and special events at certain national park units in the National Capital Region. There are many probably unconstitutional provisions contained within this proposed rule.
It's clear that someone has been working on this for quite a while, accumulating a number of modifications to the existing code in order to deprive and to eliminate freedoms that are enduring symbols of our country, our nation.
Free Speech, Petition by Citizens to Redress Grievance, Freedom to Gather-Walk-Talk in the Commons are enduring symbols of our country including the entire United States, National Mall, Historic District and all….... There is no justification to foreclosing and/or criminalizing those fundamental Rights and enduring symbols of our country by this NPS Proposed Rule. Therefore, defeat this Rule proposal for Special Regulations, Areas of the National Park System, National Capital Region, Special Events and Demonstrations.
It is outrageous that NPS even used public money to pay for all the work, by which I mean the outlay of dollars, goods and services, that has gone into making this incremental movement toward consolidating dictatorship in the United States — Consolidating dictatorship… not instituting it as has already happened.
It's a shame that symbols of a nation have apparently been hijacked to include a handful of draconian limitations to the historically broad free speech and assembly provisions granted to those seeking to protest in the public eye in Washington DC. These changes are, across the board, poorly supported and fascist. They're also poorly written, compared to the bulk of the document.
The existing uncontroversial rule should be maintained rather than using it as a Trojan Horse for the administration's continuing suppression of their vocal and activated opposition. The well has now been poisoned, and this entire rule should be blocked.
