You know, it’s curious.
There are people who follow their sports teams religiously. They know stats, player bios, and the schedule backwards and forwards. Some bring the same level of dedication to their favorite bands, a tv show, a movie.
Other people may not share that particular interest, or maybe they have a friendly rivalry with a competing team, etc. of their own. But nobody gets too bent out of shape about it usually.
However, if someone shows anything like the same level of effort in following politics and understanding issues, they are regarded as strange, not quite right, or even obsessed. It’s just not something normal people do... unlike sports, or music, and so on.
And that’s what’s curious - because when all is said and done, those things are trivial. Politics is deadly serious. Politics is about war, peace, justice, the future, and every other aspect of the world moving in the right - or wrong - direction.
But you’re not supposed to take it seriously or care too much about it. Politics are something we should “just rise above” and just do the ‘right thing.’
Humans are strange. No wonder the world looks the way it does.
