Welcome to the Street Prophets Coffee Hour. This is an open thread at the intersection of religion and politics where we can share our thoughts and comments about the day. We’re going to start off today by looking at some Depression Glass.
The Sherman County Historical Museum in Moro, Oregon, had on display the Depression Glass collection of Carsten and ReeElla von Borstel. Depression Glass is clear or colored translucent glassware which was distributed in the United States and Canada during the Great Depression. Movie theaters, businesses, and food companies used Depression Glass as an incentive to boost their sales. More than 100 patterns were made by about 20 manufacturers. Depression Glass was mass produced using a machine pressing process and is of marginal quality. Since the 1960s, Depression Glass has become a collectible.
