And as Turkish surveillance has shown, he somehow flew apart and dismembered himself either during the seven minutes he took to die or in the next ninety minutes after which his assailants left for the airport, stopping at the consul’s residence on the way. Because it’s normal to task two Gulfstream IV’s on short notice to come to Istanbul with 15 guys for a brawl with an individual.

Late Friday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement acknowledging Riyadh’s actions and expressing sorrow over Khashoggi’s death. The night before, Trump had stirred outrage in some circles by praising a Montana congressman who threw a journalist to the floor last year.
