Ok, it’s only one poll, but it is the latest. In a live caller, cell & landline only poll, Bredesen leads 44-43% with 8% undecided.
Early voting turnout has already shattered records for a midterm and we aren’t even done with early voting yet. I’ve had 4 door knocks by Bredesen volunteers in the past 2 weeks. I have a feeling this year’s midterm may end up being a repeat of 2006, when America turned out to send George Bush and Republicans a message and flipped Congress.
With many more Dem senate seats up this year in states where Trump won,, the opposite will be true in 2020 when Republicans will face a daunting map.
Back to the Bredesen-Blackburn TN Senate race:
When I went to early vote, it was really busy, and women outnumbered men 2-1.
Now, that’s only my anecdote from my one day at the polls, but typically women turn out to vote in larger numbers than men. I talk to everyone about voting, and I can tell you 75% of the women I’ve spoken with here in Nashville (in deep red TN) can’t stand Trump or Republican policies.
Women prefer Bredesen 49-37, while men prefer Blackburn 50-37. Women vote at a higher rate than men, giving Bredesen his narrow lead in the poll.
Bredesen is a popular former TN governor and mayor of Nashville.
Another encouraging statistic that caught my eye was this:
Bredesen is also more popular among Republicans than Blackburn is among Democrats—13 percent of Republicans say they plan to vote for him, while just 5 percent of Democrats say they prefer Blackburn. Independent voters are evenly split.
Democrat candidates are beginning to lead many of the polls across America they weren’t a couple weeks ago. With turnout as high as it’s been, and as unpopular as Trump is, WE CAN DO THIS!
On another related subject, Dems are leading key races for governor and state houses in states currently under GOP control. Among them, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio. This will be helpful in setting up 2020 to be a potential progressive landslide where we can win back governor’s mansions and state houses and reverse Republican gerrymandered districts that are the only reason they’ve held Congress while being outvoted by millions of votes.
We can do this!
