In perhaps a somewhat fairly slow news cycle, while we anxiously await Mueller indictments, and closure to the midterm elections,… I would like to discuss the potential of some presidential candidates. But first I would like to say, I was wrong about the likelihood that Mueller would be ready to release indictments directly after the midterms. I would have went to the bank with that, and I would have lost everything. As others have said, it is likely he has already released indictments but they are under seal. With the scope of Mueller’s investigation and the resources he has available, I naturally assume there will be many more indictments coming, and I am very anxious to hear something, anything from the Special Counsel. Especially with this new AG in charge. Maryland just went to court yesterday and charged,.. the new AG’s appointment is unlawful. And the longer we wait for indictments to fly the more nervous I get.
So while we wait, I would like to discuss the Dem’s presidential candidates. I had replied in other Diaries that it would be better if we had a white male candidate than a person of color or a woman, to insure a victory over Trump. In a possible attempt to appeal to more republican voters. Others here really objected to this thinking and I understood why they objected. But I am so worried of taking any risk against Trump. Mainly because we desperately need a victory at any cost. The consequences would be extremely dire if Trump remained another 4 years. But then I heard, one of Bill Maher's guest this week, and he pointed out how Obama got elected twice by an overwhelming majority both times,…. being a black man with a distinct Muslim name. So it got me to thinking that maybe we are ready for a woman president. And with woman being impowered all over the country, it should be fairly well received. So as many have mentioned here, I am now of the opinion the best candidate should be elected regardless of race or gender. This should never have been in question, but with Race-Baiter in Chief, it brought my fears to a head and I reluctantly suggested a more cautious approach. But many here were correct to point out that we should never lower ourselves to Trump’s level and to do what is right. I have no problem admitting when I was wrong and I clearly let my emotions get the best of me on these issues. Living life is a learning experience every single day.
I read this article that points out Kamala Harris and Joe Biden lead all Democrats in supporting nominees in the 2018 midterms. And how this also boost their own ambitions.
Sen. Kamala Harris has given herself an important edge over a potentially crowded 2020 Democratic presidential candidate field: She’s raised more for Democrats running this year than any other senator.
Harris raised nearly $2.4 million in her leadership PAC – more than any other senator this cycle, according to a report published Wednesday by Issue One, a nonpartisan think tank.
Members of Congress use such PACs to donate to other campaigns — and boost their own ambitions. Leadership PACs are in addition to lawmakers’ own committees that generally fund their own campaigns.
The PAC prowess gives Harris an edge over other potential 2020 Democratic candidates.
However, it just barely surpasses former Vice President Joe Biden’s PAC, which has raised just under $2.3 million this election cycle.

Looks like Harris and Biden are real strong contenders and might end up being our best choices. Like the fact Harris doesn’t have the extensive baggage that Biden has had over his career. I also believe, Biden can’t be considered a serious contender unless he has a very strong running mate due to his age. And that won’t help him in the primaries. These negatives give Harris a big edge. I would prefer if Harris remained in the Senate with her prosecutorial skills, but I don’t see any candidates right now who I would prefer over her. It’s still extremely early though. And she still needs to show us she has what it takes to lead a nation. Her honesty, conviction and passion are great qualities. But we have yet to see her ability to draw crowds or possess command of some leadership skills. I do hope she waits before throwing her hat in the ring. Late candidates seem fair better, so I hear.
