I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted. After writing loads of VoteForward letters, doing in-person canvassing, and phone banking for the midterms — I’m spent, and I’m sure we all feel the same way. We did so much for this election, and look at the amazing results! Feels good, doesn’t it?
I worry that this next senatorial race in Mississippi (information at link here) is hitting us in the afterglow of a successful mid-term. Have courage, friends, let’s saddle up and win another one.
Some ways to get involved:
1. VoteForward letters — the incredible folks at VoteForward have true evidence that writing personal letters to voters works. It’s fun, easy, and it can make a HUGE impact in a low turn-out election. Go to votefwd.org and learn more. The website is easy to navigate. *** CHALLENGE: Here’s what I will do to throw in to help - I will personally send a visa gift card to cover 25 first-class postage stamps (and a bit extra to cover envelopes) to the first 10 people who sign up and kosmail me with their mailing information (as the saying goes, “trust me, I’m a doctor” — literally). That’s $20 to each of you to support the cause, and that will mean 250 letters to democratic-leaning voters!
2. Donate directly to Mike Espy via his campaign. His campaign website is here.
3. Phone banking. There are a number of opportunities to do this — given that I wouldn’t want to send around well-verified links, I recommend contacting the campaign and I’m sure they can hook you up.
4. Call your friends in Mississippi. If you have peeps there, let them know about this election and get them motivated!
If you need a little extra motivation, read about his repugnant opponent, who jokes about lynching (link here) and voter suppression (link here). She is truly emblematic of everything we are fighting against.
Kosmail me with your willingness to do VOTEFWD, and $20 will be coming your way for the first ten who respond. LET’S DO THIS.
