Congresswoman-elect Sharice Davids knows what hard work looks like — during her campaign she did everything from run laps to change tires of her constituents in order to get the word out that when she went to DC, her work ethic would stand out.
After winning a place in Democratic leadership as a regional whip as a first time elected, Davids decided to show a her caucus and others what real energy looks like, as the representative-elect took to the floor to perform some “good luck pushups” in hopes of a good office drawing.
Luck doesn’t just happen, and work plays into it. Good luck pushups aren’t a sign of “just being lucky” but about the determination and work that it takes to succeed. Her commitment to the work and zeal to represent Kansas well — it’s the positive story a lot of us need right now.
It’s very reassuring to know that I don’t need to wish my congresswoman good luck; she’s going to work to make her own.
