The Kansas Truth Caucus, a small group of Republicans within the Kansas State House, isn’t coping so well with the election of a Democratic governor. In an email sent out to potential members, they encouraged their potential members to take the oath to shut down Medicaid Expansion and to limit funding for schools, urging the creation of a constitutional amendment that says the State Supreme Court isn’t, you know, the third branch of government.
“I will use every resource available” is meant to send the signal that the State House will be home of an ongoing fight to stop the Governor from advancing any of the legislation that the public by and large voted in favor of in the recent election. What really scares them? Fair funding of education? Access to healthcare by Kansans? Whatever it is, they certainly are terrified!
While they vow to oppose higher burdens on taxpayers, members of the Truth Caucus have been among the strongest advocates for anti-choice legislation, combined with burdensome rules around public assistance and disability handling.
I guess we will just assume that isn’t the kind of burdens they are worried about.
