As many of you know, one of the far right’s favorite tools in the trolling toolbox is the “echo.” It’s used to “highlight” the names of Jews or businesses owned by Jews, and is usually a signal to relentlessly troll and harass them. The Anti-Defamation League has officially placed the echo on its database of hate speech symbols.
Well, apparently Instagram hasn’t gotten the memo, at least if some recent posts by cosplay journalist and rabid Pizzagater/QAnoner Liz Crokin are any indication.
Earlier this week, while taking a swipe at Jeffrey Epstein, Crokin had this to say.
The original can be viewed here. Notice the “echo” around “them”? The message was obvious—a vast Jewish conspiracy was behind the effort to keep the American people from learning the truth about Pizzagate.
Well, earlier today, Crokin left no doubt that she has gone full anti-Semite. You may recall that she was finally banned from Twitter on Sunday after her long history of slandering people as pedophiles caught up with her. Well, she slithered back onto Twitter on Friday—only to be booted again 24 hours later. Well, Liz is not happy about it.
Notice how she put an echo around “they.” She isn’t even trying to hide it anymore.
I reported both posts to Instagram—and in both cases, they said that it didn’t violate Instagram’s community standards. Excuse me? Has Instagram been paying attention lately?
When the ADL effectively labels the echo as no different from a swastika, that should say something. Apparently the message isn’t getting through to Instagram.
