NASA announced this morning that the data from TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) observation sectors 1 and 2 are now public on the Mikulski archive. These are (cleaned up) full image frames (*ffic.fits), target pixel files (*tp.fits) and light curves (*lc.fits) from target stars.
Sectors 1 & 2 were observed between July 25 and September 20, 2018. The data from sectors 3 & 4 are still being cleaned of instrumental errors, artifacts etc. TESS is currently observing sector 5. Although the NASA data pipeline has done a preliminary search for exoplanets in the data, there are likely more to be found.
You will need to have Astropy installed on a Linux machine to process the data, but all the apis needed are open source.
The game’s afoot.
