From Senator José Rodriguez, El Paso-
The office of State Senator José Rodríguez has been given an opportunity to coordinate a holiday greeting card initiative for children in detention in Tornillo, TX. Children living in surrounding areas and beyond are invited to create a holiday greeting card for a child in Tornillo. Our hope is that children can take a brief moment, whether at home or in the classroom, create a simple holiday card and include a pre-approved message from the attached guidelines. You'll find we have a few tight deadlines as well as methods of delivery to the Senator's District Office, 100 N Ochoa, Suite A, El Paso, TX 79901. We look forward to providing these children with a moment of light and happiness for the holidays.
In addition, many have asked how they can reach out to the young people held at the Tornillo detention center, which now holds 2,400 children and continues to grow. The children are not allowed visitors, gifts of any kind, or even hugs. However, for this holiday season, we have received permission to provide a gift of a soccer ball. Join the Office of Senator José Rodríguez to bring a smile to a child by ordering from this preselected wish list. There is no limit to the number of gifts you may sponsor. All gifts must be received by the District Office, 100 N. Ochoa Street, Suite A, El Paso, TX 79901, by Dec. 13, 2018.
