CNN, Salon, AP talk of Republicans “anxious” for their party should the president be more legally vulnerable than “we currently know.”
Bull to the last T. I guarantee you: the Republican establishment, every last power-lusting one, from Vice-President down to state party chair, knows the future of Donald John Trump:

And I’ll guarantee you something else: not a one is anxious for his or her party or caucus or cause. Every last one is planning, running possible paths, trying to answer the prime question, “How do I get out of this?”
It will be amusing to watch the McCarthys and McConnells calculate, to the last focus-grouped and media-sequenced second, how long to morph from dismissal to concern to umbrage. But not very.
Because we know that they know what everyone knows: it’s everything the spy guys said it was and more. He and his whole family of hair product models are going to prison or Russia.
Democrats will hold a great many advantages in the next election cycle, but the greatest may be this: Democratic candidates can choose to run for state and district centered reasons, or can run on national issues and ideals, standing with some or all.
Now and going forward, every Republican is running for one thing only: his or her own future. And one’s own skin does not encompass a large constituency.
