Now, I really don’t need to remind everyone that trump’s approval rating has gone in one direction only. And it is not up.
If you look at the map below the 2017 ratings are pretty much the results of the election. (Stolen, but never the less, the people did vote this way.)
Assuming that this is the starting point you can tell that he was basically popular in the states that he won and not popular in the states that he lost. Many were a toss up.
But things are a bit different with the 2018 results as shown below.
There is considerably less blue (positive result) states than before. And, there are a few more deep red ones (very negative result) states. Trump’s approval, while still positive, in Florida has dropped from 22 percent down to 2 percent. If you look at states such as New Mexico, well he went from 17 percent of the people liking him to 16 percent of the people hating him.
Even Texas, once a strong Republican state (since the Democrats passed the civil rights acts in the Johnson administration) trump has sunk 13 points.
In fact, if you tally things up, his ratings have dropped everywhere, in every area of this country. There are some 25 states, including Washington D.C., that have flipped, from once approving of him to now disapproving. As time goes on, this trend will doubtlessly continue.
He is still liked in parts of the interior mountain states such as Wyoming, areas of the Appalachia, and the deep South.
I might add that these results were from November 2018, and the Mueller investigations have just been started to be revealed. Trump’s other issues such as his campaign financing, his inauguration financing, issues with the trump foundation, etc. were not disclosed at that time.
In no other modern presidency has a president slipped so much is so little time. Even Nixon did not go down that much in the first two years of his first term. And we all know how he ended his presidency. In fact, Trump may be the first president to have only one term in office in this century, assuming that he remains until 2020.
