A Rumination: 20 + 2 Reasons
I’m keeping this diary short, giving you more time to peruse yesterday’s 7500-word Good News Roundup by the Mayor of Gnu Town: 20 REASONS Why The RESISTANCE Just Had Our BEST WEEK EVER.
And someone named Kochbusters (I think it’s a made-up name) added 2 more reasons:
Despite all this dirt on Trump, I'm most excited about Butina pleading guilty. It opens a whole new angle of the investigation into foreign money pouring into the corrupt Trump GOP. We're talking exposure to 6 GOP Senators. The blue wave may not be over yet.
Also, I'm most excited about the mystery witness who succumbed to Mueller's subpoena yesterday. The clerk sealed off the entire floor of the courthouse. They went to great lengths to protect the identity of this person. (More at link.)
(Thanks to Mayor GoodNewsRoundup and Kochbusters.)
Who Won the Week?
As usual, I’ve borrowed all of the outstanding weekly news items posted by Daily Kos’s favorite satyrist, Bill in Portland Maine. The following 10 items appeared in his Who Won the Week? poll in Friday’s Cheers and Jeers. Please enjoy Bill’s on-point analysis and wit, vote in his poll, Rec his diary, get on his bandwagon, send him money, and earn his blessing. (He’s still undergoing chemotherapy, as you might know if you’ve read his M-F series or a Sunday Roundup recently.) His Friday poll now has almost 2600 votes. C&J archive and future editions here. Way more than 2 thanks to the incredible Willhelm von kosland!

This Guide is for what comes next. The 2016 Indivisible Guide was about using constituent power to defend our values, our neighbors, and our democracy. This Guide is about using our constituent power to go on offense.
Offense is exciting, but it’s more complex than defense. We have the opportunity to use congressional oversight to hold Trump and his cronies accountable. We can set the legislative agenda with a bold progressive vision rooted in inclusion, fairness, and justice. But none of this is automatic — we have to demand it of Congress.

This one from me: The Daily Kos Black Kos Community
White people need to listen to black people, and white people need to discuss racism with white people. I am a white guy, and over the years I have learned a lot from the Daily Kos Black Kos community. They are a community much like our Good News community. They meet twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Without them, no me: They empowered me to become the snowflake I am.
I encourage you to bookmark and explore the massive collection of stories published by that community: Black Kos, Year In Review (2018). The managing editor of the Black Kos group, dopper0189, assembled that diary. Better take it in small bites — it is over 26,000 delicious words long.
Black Kos takes a well-deserved 3-week break at the end of every year. Their archive is here for further exploration. When they return in January, you will be able to find the current diary there as well.
Herd the Gnus? We want YOU to leave your footprints and moo in our Roundup!
- What’s YOUR take on Good News for our country?
- What are YOU doing to create a better country?
- (Your comment could be the one, the only comment that motivates a reader to hope or act.)
- Ask a geek: We’ve got gnu geeks grazing with us today.
That’s it for today, very busy starting a new business, tutoring in Detroit. If you need more good news, get out there and make some of your own (and please let us know about it).
Power with, not power over,
2thanks
Update: Added the section on the Black Kos community.
