The Edgar Allen Poe Museum in Richmond celebrates one of America’s best-known authors. Although Poe lived in Richmond for many years, he did not actually live at this site: the museum buildings were however built from bricks and timbers that were taken from Poe’s demolished childhood home, and from the office where he wrote for a literary journal. The museum was built in the same lot as the Old Stone House, the oldest existing building in Richmond. It contains artifacts and mementos from Poe’s life.
