As someone who works in an educational job, I. HATE. HOLIDAYS. Holidays mean no work.
I tried to get a holiday retail job, and that didn’t pan out. Where I really wanted to do that work— my friendly neighborhood natural grocer, just one mile from my house— they were interested, but said they just didn’t hire seasonally. Trying to get a job with a well-known superbookstore led to three pretty-good-feeling-at-the-time interviews, but no offers. And other applications didn’t even lead to so much as a hello.
I was better off than during last year’s holidays, but it’s a bit like saying I have 8 inches of breathing space instead of 4. Due to paycheck delays (thanks, holidays, for the new way to screw people), I ended up having to pay my car insurance bill today instead of two weeks ago, when I should have.
And that’s resulted in a cascade effect, where other bills have ended up, by necessity, needing to be paid late. The timing of everything just has not been in my favor. I’ve been able to get some late fees waived, but not all.
I’m going to need about $300 by the following week (say, the 25th) in order to get back on my feet. As I said, things are better than last year; and my students are coming back sooner than they did before. I should have a good stable cash flow by the end of the month, but I still need help for the meantime. My Paypal is lucymontrose@gmail.com.
Thank you for all the times you’ve helped me before.
