A Colorado man is in jail and facing a threat of terrorism charge after he posted on Facebook that he intended to commit mass murder at one of the Women’s March locations on Saturday, apparently enraged that he can’t find a girlfriend. From CBS4 News in Denver:
According to police documents, Christopher Cleary posted on Facebook, “I’m 27 years old and I’ve never had a girlfriend before and I’m still a virgin, this is why I’m planning on shooting up a public place soon and being the next mass shooter cause I’m ready to die and all the girls the turned me down is going to make it right by killing as many girls as I see”.
He also posted “Theres nothing more dangerous than man ready to die”.
Cleary’s Facebook post sparked a call to a dispatcher, and police began searching for him. The FBI got involved as well and eventually found him at a McDonald’s near Provo, Utah, where a Women’s March was taking place later that day.
Cleary told police he’d deleted the threat and wasn’t thinking clearly, but he certainly fits the profile of a mass murderer, including a history of violence and threats toward women. And if you are wondering if this potential mass murderer has a previous record, wonder no more—of course he does: multiple arrests for threatening women and a felony stalking charge.
Online public records in Colorado confirm that. They show Cleary has been arrested four times between 2014 and 2017. His last three arrests, by police in Dacono, Arvada, and Lakewood, brought harassment, stalking, and domestic violence-related charges. He received a jail time in one of those cases, probation in the others.
Police also report he is suicidal. KUTV in Utah reports police are seeking “significant bail” for Cleary.
