I just learned that Elizabeth Warren’s maiden name is Herring. This made me nostalgic for Animal Nuz, and it also sounded like a good excuse to dig up other useless trivia about the Democratic hopefuls.
But first, a word from our sponsor!
Top Comments appears nightly, as a round-up of the best comments on Daily Kos. Surely ... you come across comments daily that are perceptive, apropos and .. well, perhaps even humorous. But they are more meaningful if they're well-known ... which is where you come in (especially in diaries/stories receiving little attention).
Send your nominations to TopComments at gmail dot com by 9:30 PM Eastern Time nightly, or by our KosMail message board. Please indicate (a) why you liked the comment, and (b) your Dkos user name (to properly credit you) as well as a link to the comment itself.
All questions are about likely 2020 Democratic contenders, but not all of them are declared candidates at the moment. Inclusion in or exclusion from the quiz does not reflect my candidate preference, just who I could dig up random pieces of information about. Answer are after the picture quilt.
Which candidate…..
1. has a non-twin sibling with such a strong resemblance, that the sibling used to refer to the candidate as “my stunt double”?
2. married a non-US citizen?
3. includes writing short stories (but not romance novels) among their hobbies?
4. has a middle name that means “Goddess”?
5. uses their mother’s surname, not their father’s?
6. was portrayed in Animal Nuz as a dog?
7. has been portrayed in both an action figure and a song, the latter by Jonathan Mann?
8. was a star basketball player in high school, and played against President Obama while in Congress?
9. wrote a thesis on the influence of Puritanism on US foreign policy?
10. performed with an improv troupe called Suddenly Susan?

In one of the discussion threads about the breaking Jeff Bezos "you're not blackmailing me, motherfucker" story, jqjacobs suggests the headline.
From DrLori:
Lordcopper’s comment in my diary: Dilemma in Virginia. A perfect response in every way, that chastised me and made me think both about what I intended to do (and failed) and what I didn't realize I was asking. It should be bronzed, and if the diary had any value at all, it was in provoking this response. Thanks for considering it.
