Someday I hope that the Trump presidency will be forgettable. That nothing irreversibly awful will happen before it ends. But here we are, two years into this bizarro funhouse journey — and a recent poll reports that something like 12% of Americans — a whopping 30 million people - cannot identify this guy. Mr. Trump’s vice president.
Let me repeat that. Twelve percent of people in this CNN poll said they have never heard of Indiana Governor now Vice President Mike Pence — have no idea who he is. cdn..com/…
Well, I wish I had never heard of Mike Pence. But for these lucky folks — the 30 million comatose Americans who will never have to try to forget him, this comes as shocking news to me. I suspect more of them can identify the masked singer.
I have no words for this.
I have not lost my faith in polling or democracy.
Yes, maybe the poll sample was skewed.
The poll shows that a third of polled individuals could not identify Pence in 2016 — before the election. That seems reasonable.
But now? Two years into this crazy Trump presidency thing.
To still not know who Mike Pence is, now.
That makes me worry about the future of our Republic.
How is it possible that a measurable percentage of the public can be that uninformed.
They were not asked to name the VP — they were asked if they had a favorable or unfavorable impression — or had no idea who Mike Pence is.
Someone please explain how this is possible.
Are they giving away free lobotomies at Walmart or what.
