If you want to cheer up a bit, do what I did tonight. I did back to back watching of three of our top candidates do their thing this last weekend.
First Harris’s entire Breakfast Club Interview. Holy Crap I want this woman to be my President.
Then Warren’s entire Announcement speech. I’m like “holy crap, she’s not just calling for throwing out all assumptions about economics, she’s doing it on damn near every other issue too.” I’m also really good with her being my president.
Then Klobuchar’s entire announcement speech. While I thought she did a decent job, I must admit some of my “holy crap” reaction was “is she really standing there with no hat in the middle of the Mississippi in a blizzard for over 20 minutes and giving a speech like it’s nothing? Warren looked a lot colder than she did.”. Still pretty freaking amazing, and if it wasn’t for the prior two candidates I’d have had a stronger reaction to her policies too. I won’t be at all sad if she’s my president in 2021 either….
I’ll check out Beto’s latest rally tomorrow when I need cheering up. He’s not even running yet but out-drawing Trump in a rally is always a good time.
This is not a normal election cycle guys. I have never, EVER seen anything like the quality of candidates we’re getting and how ferociously they’re deciding what is possible, with no apology and no fear.
(my first election had a big primary. It ended with Dukakus getting the nomination. This sort of thing is why Gen Xers are cynical. I hate a lot of the direction our country has gone since 1988 but I can’t say that in 2018 those who want to lead us aren’t going bold and trying to be worthy of our support)
