This post is in response to the another, What Goes Around Comes Around Kirsten Gillibrand.
The gist of the first post was Gillibrand was performing some sort of attention-getting stunt to further her political ambitions.
Seriously?
When has any woman ever come out ahead by calling a powerful and popular man to account for sexual harassment?
Have we learned nothing from #MeToo?
Have we not learned that speaking out is always a dangerous and losing position for any woman?
But aside from the awful premise that Gillibrand took her stand on Franken to get ahead, there are two huge relevant facts that are being overlooked.
First, before Gillibrand made her public call for Franken to resign, Chuck Schumer had already privately told Franken he was toast. Gillibrand wasn't the one showing Franken the door. It was Chuck Schumer.
Second, the Democratic women Senators were acting in concert on this matter, but agreed that Gillibrand should go first, because she had a very public identity in this issue since she had taken the lead dealing with sexual harassment in the military. The others followed in quick succession.
Third, you need to assume that Gillibrand has some sort of super powers to be able to single-handedly bring down another Senator.
We used to accuse women of witchcraft. Is that it?
PS. Gillibrand is the fourth most progressive Senator according to her lifetime score on Progressive Punch.
