Welcome to bookchat where you can talk about anything...books, plays, essays, and audio books. You don’t have to be reading a book to come in, sit down, and chat with us.

An open letter to characters I have known and loved:
Dear friends from many books,
Please consider the following as you pursue your life path in a novel.
...
Don’t make enemies of other characters unless you really need to do so.
Do let a friend watch your back. Don’t be proud of going it alone.
Treat people well because you never know when you might need help.
Take advice. Study up on things. Reflect before acting or jumping off a cliff if it is not necessary. There might be stairs.
Pack some water and food supplements when you leave on an adventure. Maybe a few coins.
Never, ever turn your back on a dragon.
Listen when your subconscious mind says something is wrong.
Don’t judge a book by its cover. You know better than that. Honestly!
Tell people where you are going.
Dream big, plan well, but don’t beat yourself up when you make mistakes.
….
What advice would you give characters in your favorite stories?
