Chris Reeves, part of the Kos staff, made the front page of Kansas City Star today.
Chris tweeted about what he overheard the president of the community college in Johnson County, Kansas, part of the metropolitan area of Kansas City, was saying about a tuition increase at the college. The conversation took place in a restaurant in DC. The president was talking to a member of the board of trustees and Chris was sitting several tables away.
The community college has decided to raise the tuition by $1 per credit hour.
The president claimed the following:
‘No one who got to JCCC Struggles,’” read one of Reeves’ tweets about Sopcich [the president]. “Show me anyone who struggles at JCCC..I walk the parking lot and I see a whole lot of very nice cars.”
Chris also tweeted the following:
“I think it is hilarious you think anyone cares about a $1 increase. Hilarious. I challenge you to find anyone who is going to stand with people who are opposed to this.”
The defense is that these statements lack “relevant context.”
Thanks Chris. It certainly is good to know, as you note, that, by the cars parked outside your college, the president can tell whether the students are struggling.
