No matter what the stage is, when Donald Trump opens his mouth there is a very high probability that what comes out is going to be a lie. In January, the Washington Post reported that the ever-tallying list of “false or misleading statements” Trump has told over the first two years in office was at around 8,581. Averaging 5.19 lies per day in his first year, Trump crushed that number during his second year in office, averaging 16.5 lies per day. But records were meant to be broken and, while 2019 is only a couple of months old, Donald Trump is lying up a record-setting 22 times per day!
A big part of that number was the two hour inane-person rant he gave to a rapt CPAC audience on March 2, the same one conservatives have called a “speech.” According to the Post, Trump hit 104 lies on that day. Wow. Before you break out the golden trophy, this was only Trump’s “fourth-biggest day of false or misleading claims.”
Some highlights of Trump’s rant included the assertion that the Green New Deal, proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, would end air travel … and energy! There was also the statement by Trump that "Visa lottery—that’s where they put in the names; they put it in a lottery, and you pick, ‘Oh, here’s a wonderful person. Wonderful.’ You know, he killed four people. ‘Here’s—here’s another wonderful.’ … They send us the people they don’t want."
Trump wasn’t the only person lying up a storm on that CPAC stage this past weekend. He was just the most sweaty and obvious, as well as the one speaking for the longest time.
