Rep. Eric Swalwell threw his hat into the crowded 2020 ring in an appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday night. Swalwell, a California Democrat first elected to Congress in 2012, is a constant fixture on cable news … and has become a fixture in Iowa, the early-voting state where he was born and spent his early childhood.
At 38 years old, Swalwell joins Mayor Pete Buttigieg in the millennial wing of the primary field, and plans to focus on gun reform as a central campaign issue. He is a parent of two young children.
