Democratic Rep. Ed Case (HI) is the first to strongly confront Barr over his legal justification over withholding information from Congress. Case hits particularly hard on the idea that Barr can exclude information on the unindicted, which he calls “an exception you could drive a truck through.”
Barr claims that his ability comes through “regulation” that the special counsel regulation “has to be consistent with longstanding policy.” Barr talks about Comey.
The more Barr talks, the more clear it becomes that anything having to do with Trump, Trump Jr., Kushner, or anyone else not already wearing an orange suit is going to be those color-coded redactions.
Barr also makes it clear that he’s not going to release any grand jury materials unless Rep. Jerry Nadler takes him to court.
