A Guide for Future Reference, Since DJT Will Ask Others to Do Something Illegal Again
When your boss asks you to do something unethical or illegal, you face one of the most challenging dilemmas in your career.
"There are potential negative consequences for speaking up, as well as for complying," says Lynn Taylor, a national workplace expert and the author of "Tame Your Terrible Office Tyrant: How to Manage Childish Boss Behavior and Thrive in Your Job." "It can feel like a lose-lose — but you should never comply with an illegal request."
...Again, if you think (or know) the request is illegal, do not comply. But if it's in that gray area or seems unethical, here's what you should do:
- Be sure you understand the situation.
- Use your gut instincts. If it seems unethical, it probably is.
- Stay true to your moral compass. (IF you don’t have a moral compass, borrow someone else’s.)*
- Don't intentionally delay in your response or avoid responding.
- Ask questions … and more questions.
- Try to reason with your boss. (Good luck with Donnie on this one.)*
- Never be bullied. (Be Best! HaHaHaHaHaHa!)*
- Challenge with caution.
- Take measures to protect yourself.
- Don't talk about it with too many people.
- Be firm and consistent.
- Start your job search (Or just resign now.)* www.businessinsider.com/...

Forced to Perform Illegal Act by an Employer: Legal Rights and Issues: If your employer fires you for refusing to do something illegal -- or for reporting illegal activity -- you may have a wrongful termination claim.
If you are fired because you refused to do something illegal at work or because you reported illegal activity, you may have legal claims against your employer. A number of laws intended to protect the public from dangerous or illegal activity, from environmental dumping to fraudulent accounting practices, also protect employees from retaliation for blowing the whistle. Even if no law directly protects you from termination, you may still have a legal claim for wrongful termination in violation of public policy.
