The Trump Organization has continued to rid itself of long-time undocumented workers, the New York Times reports, including maintenance team members who have kept the grounds of Donald Trump’s Jupiter, Florida, golf club orderly for as long as a decade now. “They got rid of me after so many years of hard work because I don’t have papers,” said maintenance worker Doroteo Hernández, an undocumented immigrant originally from Mexico.
“Several of these workers said they had worked at the resort and other golf courses for multiple years and were once employed directly by the Trump properties,” The Week reported. “However, the Trump Organization recently started transferring those work crews to a staffing company in West Palm Beach, which has been subsequently firing them.”
The Trump Organization has fired at least 18 undocumented immigrant workers from a number of locations since December, the Washington Post reported in February, and was even canning workers as Trump was shutting our nation down over his stupid and useless border wall. Employees at his Westchester, New York, golf club said that management knew about their immigration status, while others, NBC News reported, “said they believe Trump must have known.”
Trump, as immigrant rights group America’s Voice notes, should be hounded over the fact that he’s “exploiting immigrants and profiting off immigrants’ industry and labor at the same time he depicts immigrants as the source of all the country’s ills.” This should include Trump loyalists, too: White House aide and former golf caddy Dan Scavino still hasn’t addressed whether he knew the golf club he once managed for Trump employed undocumented workers.
