This week, our projects aim to supply a Florida second grade with a set of picture books about animals, and a North Carolina high school chemistry class with kits to perform a series of experiments. We hope that readers who support quality public school education will help by sharing or supporting our featured projects.
The Inoculation Project is an ongoing, volunteer effort to crowdfund science and math projects for red-state public schools in low-income neighborhoods. As always, our conduit is DonorsChoose.org, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that facilitates tax-deductible donations to specific, vetted projects in public schools.
Our new main project aims to supply this classroom with interesting books!
Per Eastern Bluebird, when other matching funds are not available, we can use code PwCTECH at checkout to double our donations.
MAIN PROJECT
Resources: Help me give my students the science graphic novel series called The Truth About Your Favorite Animals.
Economic need: More than half of students from low‑income households
Location: Treasure Coast Elementary School, Sebastian, Florida
Total: $167.91
Still Needed: $167.91 $28.49
Teacher’s Comments from Mrs. R.:
My Students: Hello from the Sunshine state! We are fun-loving, information seeking, creative 2nd graders. We love to learn and explore our world of Reading and build our knowledge and vocabulary. We learn in a Title I school and our teacher does her best to provide rich-learning environments for us. Our teacher is always on the look out for something that will make learning fun and memorable! We hope you are interested in helping us learn and make great use of these exciting learning resources she's picked for us.
My Project: The truth is … this series may well inspire a new generation of animal scientists and conservationists. Chock-full of information and humorous comments, these books introduce little readers to a variety of animals. In keeping with the Florida Standards for reading informational text, there are many examples of nonfiction text features, such as text boxes, maps, and diagrams. There are also speech bubbles that have some funny comments and several opportunities to compare other animals. Scientific vocabulary is peppered throughout and will be helpful for developing language skills in younger readers. The artwork is cartoonish, which will be extremely appealing to budding readers.

I’m happy to say that our friend, DK user Lesly, who introduced a new project on DonorsChoose last week, had that project funded promptly, so this is just a note to say we didn’t forget about her — she made good without our help! ;)
The long-term project from last week is back, though. This never-before-funded teacher was a find by Eastern Bluebird!
LONG-TERM PROJECT
Resources: Help me give my students some Chemistry laboratory kits that they can use to better understand and enjoy the concepts we are learning in class.
Economic need: Nearly all students from low‑income households
Location: Vance County High School, Henderson, North Carolina
Total: $561.40
Still Needed: $231.69 $71.40
Teacher’s Comments from Ms. Perez:
My Students: The students from our school are from low economic background and 100% of them are receiving free breakfast and lunch. Our teachers and administrative staff are working hard to inculcate to the students the importance of getting an education because it is a means to help them have a better life in the future.
They may be economically disadvantaged but they are interested to learn and explore.
They are always hoping to have resources that can make learning exciting and fun through hands-on activities.
My Project: Students will have better understanding of Chemistry if they can see and observe chemical reactions. They will be motivated to learn and come to to class if enthusiasm is sustained by if giving them the opportunity to explore and conduct lab activities in class.
Your donations will be tremendously appreciated by my students because it will surely help them in their education.
My students will be excited to try these new laboratory kits because they love to perform and do experiments - they are always looking for more. These activities are necessary to help them comprehend the topics related to it.

Our main project from last week was completed, with a big assist from our readers!
Mrs. Caesar maintains a makerspace in her Houston elementary-school library, and she wanted to add materials for 4th and 5th grade STEM students. Her requested new project kit will help them learn to engineer a package so it can be dropped from a height without its contents breaking. The project was Don't Drop Me!
She writes: Thank you for funding "Don't Drop Me!" This project will give my students great resources. We have a makerspace in the library. The students will be able to use their creativity and engineering skills to drop items without breaking them. We appreciate you supporting our learners. We believe that access to STEM activities are very important. Thank you for your generosity!
Our Dollars at Work
In February, we helped Mr. Fenner’s Texas after-school computer club. His fifth-grade club members learn to repair computers and assemble them from components. They needed a few more pieces to build their latest computer! The project was STEMtastic Computer Engineering Club. (More photos at the link.)
Thank you all so much for your help and a special thanks to the Daily KOS group for picking up my project and making sure that it got funded. The kids and I appreciate this so much.
Thanks to your donation, in a few weeks the club will be able to build this computer multiple times to practice their skills and at the end of the year one of the students will get to take it home. To many of the families in our community this would be life changing as most of them do not even have a home computer. Thank you again for helping my little club make a difference.
Founded in 2009, The Inoculation Project combats the anti-science push in conservative America by funding science and math projects in red-state classrooms and libraries. Our conduit is DonorsChoose.org, a crowdfunding charity founded in 2000 and highly rated by both Charity Navigator and the Better Business Bureau.
Every Sunday, we focus on helping to fund science or math projects, preferably in neighborhood public schools where the overwhelming majority of students come from low-income households. We welcome everyone who supports public school education — no money is required!
Finally, here’s our list of successfully funded projects — our series total is 735! The success-list diary also contains links and additional information about DonorsChoose.org.
