For the standard disclaimer: Whoever wins the Democratic Primary, I will campaign for and vote for.
After this last election, I want change and the change that I want is for the highest office in our country to be held by a woman. Of the five woman running, I would happily vote for four of them.
Elizabeth Warren
Amy Klobuchar
Kamala Harris
Kirsten Gillibrand
I have nothing against the men running this time. Happy for any of them to be VP. Am I voting with my vagina. Damn fucking straight I am.
I’m voting for my daughter and son. I’m voting for my future grand-kids.
I will wait until debates and see which ones values most closely align with mine. Notice I said closely aligns with mine. There is no single candidate that I’m going to 100% agree with.
I see the position of president as a representation of our ideals as American's. Who we want to say we are to the world. That picture above is powerful because of the unspoken words it speaks. That democracy and the American dream is for anyone who works hard and fairly.
Policy is for Congress. Sure I want a better healthcare system and immigration policies and employment solutions. All things that can happen through Congress. Do you really think any of the candidates running are going to veto M4All or the Dreamer’s Act if passed by Congress?
I want a President that has had a menstrual cycle I want a President who understands the personal impact of bearing a child. The physical, emotional and financial toll that it takes on a woman’s body, mind and spirit. I want someone who has been underpaid. I want someone who learned to navigate in a boy’s world. I want someone who looks at the world from a different prospective than a male.
I firmly believe that no mother on the face of the planet would ever put children in cages or every allow child/parent separation.
I don’t want to shut out male voices. I want the Beto’s, Bookers, Yang’s, Buttigieg, Sanders voices. Is asking for men to step back to a VP role and let women lead sexist? I don’t think so. I think America is due for a different type of leadership and role model. I would love to see how the media treats the “First Gentleman”.
Let me head off the “We want the candidate that can beat Trump” argument. A brown paper bag should be able to beat Trump in this next election. Policy won’t beat Trump. If you can’t figure out why not to vote for Trump, I can’t help you.
This isn’t an election of the “lesser of two evils”. This is an election of a field of highly qualified candidates and I’m giving some preferential treatment to vagina holders. Sue me.
