This is not the same poll as you may have completed yesterday. This is a ranked-choice poll (RCV), where you get to name your 1st choice, and your 2nd, your 3rd, 4th, etc. Please give each candidate a unique rank, with no ties. The results tell us who the winner(s) would be if ranked-Choice rules were applied. To participate, follow this link:

Embedding this poll is not possible for various technical reasons. The picture at the top of the page is just a screenshot of what you’ll find when you click the link above this paragraph. Just in case you missed it, here it is again:
Please recommend this diary to help gather more participants and get more data!
Instructions and Requests:
In order to get the the best data about the community’s opinions, please follow these rules:
- Rank every candidate in order of your preference to win the nomination.
- Your second choice should be made as if your first choice were not on the list. Your third choice should be made as if your first two choices are not listed, etc..
- Please rank every candidate in the list in order with no ties. Do not give duplicate ranking scores; there should be one 1st choice, one 2nd choice, etc., down through to your 8th. (Note: This polling service allows you to give any number of candidates the same ranking. I am requesting that you please give every candidate a unique rank for the sake of more and better data.)
- Please do not vote more than once, even if you can get around the preventative measures. Treat this as if it were an actual ballot, not a test of your enthusiasm or technical skills.
This poll will be open until April 19th* at 6:00 PM, more or less.
*Diarist’s Note: This is a typo: The intended ending date was April 17th, and it was ended on that date at 7:34 PM. My apologies for the error.
Please read my previous diaries for more info about this RCV polling service and ranked choice voting in general. You can also find a link to the results of the test poll conducted two weeks ago. The CIVS website also has some information about RCV, and I encourage you to check it out and learn more about the various better ways of counting elections.
Another Note: You will not find this poll listed in the CIVS Public Polls roster. My intent is to poll the Daily Kos community.
The candidates in this poll are taken from the most recent Daily Kos Straw Poll, in order to provide a direct comparison of results. This list is slightly different, in that it does not offer the option of “Unsure” or “Other.” This is to more closely simulate an actual, final ballot. I believe that if you are going to limit candidates that will appear on the actual primary ballot, it does not make sense to offer these two options.
Thank you for participating!
