Most of us have heard about the horrific fire at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris yesterday. It hit me hard, even though I’ve never been there. Notre Dame has stood in Paris since 1163; it was a landmark, a touchstone of faith, and simply a place of incredible beauty.
The last Christmas we had together, my oldest brother gave me a 3-D puzzle of the cathedral. I was thrilled! Sadly, he passed away quite suddenly before I had a chance to work on it. It remains in a box with other games and puzzles, in storage.
Perhaps it is time to put it together
Our hearts go out to the people of Paris today, as they struggle to come to terms with such a loss. The citizens of New York know, better than most, how they’re feeling, even though the causes of their sorrows are vastly different.
All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation.
There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope.
We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community.
We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. On Sunday we go to the C!U!A! posting to show support for all the work being done to promote Democratic candidates/causes. Please to join us there, as well.
Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes.
If you have pictures of your own that
you’d like to share, they’d be very welcome!
The most famous view of Notre Dame….
Side view, showing the beatiful window,
the spire and the twin towers of the front.
The spire….
The interior…..
The Rose Window, perhaps one of the best stained glass windows in the world.
For whatever reason, I keep hearing the sad notes
of The Rains of Castamere in my head.
Many blessings to all the firefighters who risked life and limb to save as many treasures as possible, human lives above all.
The lesson is that everything is temporary…
Except Love. Love is forever.
