Bernie’s recently aired Fox town hall ratings are through the roof! In fact, the town hall ratings bested all 2020 presidential candidate town halls held thus far:
Bernie’s Fox News Town Hall Was a Ratings Smash.
According to early Nielsen data, more than 2.5 million viewers tuned in to hear Sanders, a self-described “democratic socialist,” make his case on Fox News during the 6:30pm hour, prior to primetime. That total viewership bested CNN’s Bernie Sanders town hall event from back in February; and it doubled MSNBC’s during the same time period on Monday evening, and nearly tripled CNN’s.
The prior town hall ratings record for the 2020 cycle was a CNN-hosted event with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), which drew 1.95 million total viewers.
Additionally, per Nielsen, Fox’s Sanders event brought in 489,000 viewers between the ages of 25 and 54—a key demographic for cable-news advertisers—trouncing CNN’s 281,000 tally and MSNBC’s 208,000.
Reaching out to voters in red districts and swing voter areas is part of any good Democratic strategy and other Democrats are following Bernie’s lead. Presidential candidate Amy Kloubachar (D-MN) has already scheduled a Fox town hall. Pete Buttigieg (D-IN) and Julián Castro are currently in talks with Fox regarding a town hall. Gillibrand and Booker are open to the idea:
2020 Democrats Seek Voters in an Unusual Spot: Fox News
On Wednesday, Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota said she had agreed to a Fox News town hall next month. Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., is in advanced talks with the network. Julián Castro, the former housing secretary, is close to signing on, and Senators Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and Cory Booker of New Jersey say they are open to the idea.
Bernie’s town hall was hugely successful and clearly got under Trump’s skin who posted three angry tweets about the town hall.
Trump has a history of deep paranoia about what he considers his media outlet and freaks out any time he feels they’ve betrayed him. This time was no exception.
What better way to scare Trump than to go straight to his voters and tell them the truth: Trump is a pathological liar who has not and will not deliver on his promises. And that’s precisely what Bernie Sanders did.
Bernie on Fox: “Trump is a pathological liar.”
The president’s favorite network treated viewers to a rare dose of common sense on Monday night
On Fox, ‘Bernie attacked Trump’s medicare plans----uninterrupted. Not sure I’ve ever seen that happen.’
