On Saturday, Donald Trump expressed his congratulations to number two NFL draft pick Nick Bosa.
Trump likes to follow football, and it’s not unusual for him to congratulate a team or player. What is notable is that Trump congratulated Bosa — a white player who has called NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick a “clown” on his social media accounts. Conspicuously absent from Trump’s Twitter feed was any congratulations for Oklahoma quaterback and Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray, who was selected ahead of Bosa by the Arizona Cardinals.
Murray is black. Bosa is white. In addition to running down Kaepernick, Bosa also has a history of supporting homophobic and racist remarks. And, of course, he has praised Trump.
In addition to winning the Heisman, Murray is a talented baseball player who, as Time reports, placed eighth in the MLB draft. Murray was also found to have made some homophobic tweets … when he was 14. He has since apologized.
But it looks like Bosa will get all the cold burgers and limp fries to himself. As Trump would be sure to say — he’s a very fine person.
