Good morning, Newdists. Today is Cinco de Mayo, of course, and maybe you were expecting something about that—if so, sorry to disappoint.
Tomorrow is also a special day: Ms. Zoe’s birthday! Since I’m not writing tomorrow, I’m throwing an early birthday party for her. Disclaimer: I don’t know if tomorrow is her actual birthday, but it’s close, so that’s what I’ve gone with.
Many of you watched Zoe grow up, thanks to how many pictures I’ve shared over the years. And I do mean “over the years”—much to my shock, I realized that she’ll be six years old tomorrow. It’s hard to believe. She did grow into her ears, eventually, but it was a gradual process:
One thing hasn’t changed over the years...her disdain for wearing costumes. She has always been too dignified for that kind of human foolishness.
I know Zoe doesn’t know or care about her birthday, and we don’t even know if it is her birthday, but I do love this cat. So I felt the need to go shopping for birthday presents this weekend. I bought her a new bed—because that’s what she needs. (She now has three beds and two towers, in case anybody is keeping track.) This one is cute, though, and has fabric that extends out for “extra lounge space.” Zoe seems to enjoy stretching her legs out now:
I also bought her the Catty Whack, an electronic cat toy that has a feather wand that comes out of mouse holes. I was pretty excited about this—I thought she would have a great time with it. Here is the Catty Whack in action with somebody else’s cat:
Here is the Catty Whack in action with my cat...she is decidedly not amused:
So that was a fail. At least she likes the bed, I guess.
What do you want to chat about this morning?
All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation.
There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope.
We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community.
We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. On Sunday we go to the C!U!A! posting to show support for all the work being done to promote Democratic candidates/causes. Please to join us there, as well.
Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes.
