Today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made a statement on the Senate floor, asserting the Mueller investigation was “over” and it was time to move on. Yes, there are a million ways that is rich coming from any Republicans (see the purposely elongated investigations into Hillary Clinton’s emails and/or Benghazi). Sen. Elizabeth Warren took exception to McConnell’s declaration and she followed him on the Senate floor to read directly from the Mueller report.
She summarized the ‘inescapable facts’ in a tweet, but her remarks today were spot on. Jump below to hear Warren in her own words.
Take a listen as Warren takes Republicans to task, saying they may not have read the report at all.
She spent time reminding McConnell and his Republican colleagues exactly what was in the report, saying, “Robert Mueller’s report makes clear that the president took steps to impede the Mueller investigation and that his report, though it does not charge the president, does not exonerate him from wrongdoing.”
Warren noted more than 600 former federal prosecutors have signed a statement saying that “if we were talking about any person in the country, other than the President of the United States, that person would be prosecuted for obstruction of justice.”
WATCH:
This is about the Constitution and the rule of law. Republicans are content to stand by and watch it all crumble to further their own goals and protect one of their own, consistently putting party of country ever since Mitch McConnell came to power. Shame.
