Who said Americans don’t have the attention span for nerdy policy discussions? Contrary to the mainstream media’s “conventional wisdom” that nobody has an attention span beyond that of a gnat for political campaigning, which has resulted in the MSM’s tailoring their dumbing down media coverage accordingly over the last few decades to focus almost solely on the superficial horse race, personality style angles, the most policy-heavy candidate in a crowded Democratic field of more than 20 candidates is one of the fastest rising stars, according to poll numbers during the last few weeks.
The most recent Quinnipiac Poll of April 30th has Warren surging to 2nd place, compared to the March 28th Quinnipiac Poll where Warren was at 5th place:
April 30 Top 5 Democratic 2020 candidates (Quinnipiac)
Biden…………….38
Warren………….12
Sanders….….….11
Buttigieg….…...10
Harris……………..8
March 28 Top 5 Democratic 2020 candidates (Quinnipiac)

Warren has offered more than a dozen complex policy proposals designed to address an array of problems, from unaffordable housing and child care to the overwhelming burden of student debt to anticorruption initiatives that would target the Washington swamp, to her antitrust measures that would transform Silicon Valley, and many more.
Since January, she’s rolled out plans to forgive over $600 billion in student loan debt, enact a 2 percent wealth tax, provide universal child care and more, pretty much outflanking her Democratic primary challengers on both the volume and scope of policy proposals. She regularly goes into the weeds when taking questions at town halls and sometimes cautions voters that she’s going to “nerd out” for a bit.
Even Time Magazine, which up to now seemed to practically ignore female Democratic candidates while overly focused on the 5 B’s — Beto, Buttigieg, Biden, Bernie, Booker — is taking notice. This morning’s Time Magazine finally gave her populist political revolution candidacy the recognition it deserves by making her and her “nerdy” policy ideas the cover story.
From today’s Time Magazine:

Warren’s policy proposals have become her brand. On the campaign trail, her off-the-cuff phrase “I have a plan for that!” became so ubiquitous that it morphed into a viral applause line; in Iowa, supporters printed the accidental slogan on T-shirts. Her campaign, staffers say, is built on the conviction that voters want substance, not theatrics, and will throw in for the candidate who puts forth serious ideas to create change.
It’s an audacious bet in the Donald Trump era. Voters tend to tell pollsters they prioritize policy over personality. But they said that in 2016 too, when Clinton’s detailed agenda was no match for Trump’s simple slogans and schoolyard nicknames. As her Democratic competitors offer enticing promises largely devoid of specifics, Warren insists on talking nuts and bolts. In her stump speech, she describes the mechanics of a tax that would fund her universal child-care plan, to pick just one example among many.
Warren’s investment in substance over style is not her only gamble. Over the past few months, she has fired her finance director, eschewed high-dollar donors and hired as much as 10 times as many staffers in early voting states as most of her competitors. While others focus on big money and flashy rallies, she’s building a campaign designed to maximize the amount of time she spends in living rooms and community centers talking about what she would do as President.

Warren has long been my favorite 2020 Democratic presidential candidate as she has proven herself to be the most brilliant and convincing populist/progressive competent compassionate leader — a social democrat who really cares about ALL Americans — and it appears more and more of my fellow Americans are coming to the same conclusion.
