I live by the Nashville airport but travel throughout the city for work. Most days I travel west and south, which means I’m driving on I-440, which goes in a circle around town as a sort of access interstate. But hey, it’s a beautiful road.
Seems the road was made of concrete and concrete doesn’t last so they are tearing it up and putting in asphalt. I have my doubts about why they are doing it but no one really cares or consulted me.
Below are pictures I took this weekend of what the road looks like now. I took them at a time when I-440 was almost empty, because I’d be dead if I’d done it during peak hours. They move the lanes about every week and the lanes are so rough your car is jolted around quite a bit.
The scariest sign I’ve seen so far and there are a lot of them; “Danger: low electric lines”, “Danger: Trucks entering””. The scariest though was when for a week they had huge “Workers Wanted” signs!
And yet, somehow I do make it to work and home every night, but I don’t drive during peak hours so that helps. The year of construction started in March. Only 9 more months of madness to go.
