So Twitter’s suspending me for the above tweet which in my mind does nothing more than advocate the rule of law being followed.
I could take it down, but having seen so many thousands of tweets calling for Hillary and Obama to be executed I’m thinking I should fight it. Here’s the offending text:
@LindseyGrahamSC @realDonaldTrump He should be tried and executed. You should be there with him too. Sick of you traitors. https://t.co/ohOBIvJhkp
As far as the First Amendment goes, I’m in the clear because I’m quite plainly not calling for extra-judicial violence. On the other hand, it’s a private company, so 1A doesn’t apply.
If twitter’s contention is that it’s out of line or somehow absurd to call Donald Trump a traitor, I can simply point to this tweet in my defense:
I’m not sure what it was that Lindsey was referring to in the matter — I think it was putting the Mueller report behind us and standing with the President (as he continues to call the people responsible for the report traitors, who presumably should be tried and executed.) Even though I know that if they were Democrats both Donald and Lindsey would already have been tried and actually BE awaiting execution right now, I don’t actually want to see it happen personally (so far...) -so I have a moral excuse for not fighting it.
It’s also unclear what the consequences are for fighting it, although I imagine it’s losing the account and 26,000 followers. Although of the 26,000 there were only 10 or so who actually posted signs, the rest really seemed to enjoy seeing the pictures. (And now that the President has placed himself above the law, interest in sign-hanging does seem to be going up at least a little.)
It should also be factored in that I’m getting pretty fucking sick and tired of fighting for shit.
Anyway, if you follow me on Twitter, please let my other followers know what happened for me. Thanks.
The hashtag last time was #FreePatrickRandall
While I’m off Twitter, I’ll try to focus more on my painting and photography.
We’ve almost got this trip paid off, so feel free to chip in for gas.
Cheers!
