I just read a nice diary about the real reason Daily Kos was created by kos.
I liked some things about the diary.
The diarist wrote that we need to get our facts straight.
Well if getting our facts straight is important, then let me start with the basics:
The big bang and evolution are simply correct information, not opinions or flimsy theories.
There is no life after death, there is no god, and there is no free will. All actions by all animals and plants are caused by nature and nurture, DNA and learning, primal urges and training. None of those things are free will. Free will is a fairy tale.
So many folks fail to see that we are just another kind of animal, even though Ecclesiastes, chapter 3, verses 18-22, make that clear:
kingjames.bible/…
18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
And, Jesus was a nice guy, and had many excellent points to make.
But, he was wrong about getting himself killed, to benefit others.
Patton said, it is not the job of the soldier to die for his country. It is the job of the soldier to make the other guy die for his country.
By basing the Christian religion on his death, his suicide by cop, he set up his new religion as the ideal basis for suicide cults, which have sprung up here and there, now and then, in the name of Jesus.
Christianity has many elements of a dangerous cult.
Remember David Koresh and the Branch Davidians.
So, if you are smart, you are an atheist.
And you should demand that your candidates are atheists.
Oh, but in America, we don’t do that.
A Muslim can get elected more easily than an atheist.
Even though we saw, on 9/11/01, how radicalized Muslims can behave.
But at least, we could avoid voting for anyone who has the feel of a cult like following, like Sanders.
The supporters of Sanders act like members of a cult.
We should avoid any support of Sanders, for that reason, in my opinion.
To be clear, a devout Methodist, such as Hillary, or a devout Catholic, such as Tim Kaine, or devout Muslims, such as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) are certainly acceptable, as long as there is no feeling of a cult generated by their supporters.
To put it bluntly, they need to act like nice atheists.
I like Cory Booker, who did everything humanly possible, to make the city of Newark, New Jersey, a better place:
en.wikipedia.org/…
Booker gained national attention when, on December 28, 2010, a constituent used Twitter to ask him to send someone to her father's house to shovel his driveway, because her elderly father was going to attempt to do it himself. Booker responded by tweeting, "I will do it myself; where does he live?" Other people volunteered, including one person who offered his help on Twitter, and 20 minutes later Booker and some volunteers showed up and shoveled the man's driveway.[58][59] On April 12, 2012, Booker saved a woman from a house fire, suffering smoke inhalation and second-degree burns on his hands in the process. Newark Fire Chief John Centanni said that Booker's actions possibly saved the woman's life.[60] After Hurricane Sandydestroyed much of the shoreline areas of New Jersey and New York in late October 2012, Booker invited Newarkers without power to eat and sleep in his home.[61] In February 2013, responding to a Twitter post, Booker helped a nervous constituent propose to his girlfriend.[62] Booker rescued a dog from freezing temperatures in January 2013 and another dog that had been abandoned in a cage in July 2013.[63][64]
But I would be happy with a ticket of Harris/Booker. Then, Booker can get elected President, in 2028.
Kamala Harris has more support, and she also has done big things, at higher levels, rather than Booker’s Batman style local efforts.
Tell me, in the comments, who you prefer as our nominee.
By the way, this is the real purpose of Daily Kos, to get Democrats elected.
At this point, we need to work on brainstorming about who we really think we need to nominate.
So, don’t give me pie, in the comments.
Our nominee will not be pie.
Give me a viable candidate in your comments, please.
Treat it like a poll, in the comment thread.
Thanks in advance.
