My mother (Of Blessed memory) used to be hit or miss when she cooked. Some things I would never touch if you paid me (Hamburgers...oy where they awful) but other stuff she made that I loved.
I am the first to admit that I am no cook. On top of not having the “touch” to cook due to physical limitations it is hard for me to stand up in the kitchen for as long as it takes to make something good.
I am blessed to have 2 caregivers who are both very good cooks… but as of yet no one can top the stew that my mom made. Whenever I had a hand in suggesting a meal, or if I did something good and I was to be rewarded I would request that my mom made strew.
She passed away before I could ever get the recipe though, so I do not know the specifics. All I know for sure is that it contained meat, potatoes, carrots and ketchup.
How about you? Is there a recipe that you miss from the time you spent growing up, that you’ve not had the same version of since that time?
