I’ve read dozens of opinions about the last two Dem debates. Some silly ones saying speak better Spanish, or don’t speak Spanish at all. Ridiculous ones saying a woman being aggressive is unseemly and a great ones saying a woman being aggressive is long overdue and many more good and ridiculous opinions.
Yet I’ve not read one person, serious, not serious, Republican, Democrat, Independent or Drunken Fool mention what I consider the most honest and important moment in the two debates.
Here it is: Amy Klobuchar, a United States Senator, not some radio-dick head, or know-nothing, no, a U.S. Senator who should know, who’s word should carry some weight said this: ” If we don’t prevent Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump from stealing the 2020 election, none of this will matter” or something very close to those words.
Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow were moderating at that time if I’m not mistaken, and I could be, but there were moderators of course so regardless of who, they ignored that astonishing statement while 15 million Americans were watching.
Yet nothing. Nothing. Like it’s no big deal. WTF? How is this not urgently being acted upon as I type?
Climate Crises is of course the critical issue facing humanity and I’m (sadly) used to watching Republicans not care , but also watching Democrats say “Climate change if not acted upon is going to kill us all” then when asked what their first act as POTUS would be answer something else. Uh… if it’s the existential threat you said it is, then shouldn’t that be your first action?
What I haven’t accepted yet is the lack of immediate outrage and action from everyone except the traitorous Republican party, when Amy Klobuchar for example says the Republican leaders are actively rigging and on the verge of stealing our election via Russia and vote rigging, if we don’t stop them.
I can only come up with two reasons why what Senator Klobuchar said is not treated as an emergency with demands to stop it. They are;
1) They want it to happen.
2) They are afraid to admit it publicly because then they’d be expected to act upon it and it seems almost everyone is afraid of Republicans because they threaten second amendment remedies towards their ‘enemies’.
I’m often wrong so if there are other reasons I’m eager to learn them. What I suspect is all of the talk and declarations are just noise and America doesn’t have the collective will to make this the priority issue it should be.
I cannot believe the fact that Amy Klobuchar, who should know, said it, yet news outlets, state governors, past Presidents and elected officials, along with those in power today aren’t marching into Washington D.C. and getting in Mitch McConnell’s face to remove him from office.
Please tell me there’s a good reason. Help me grasp the nuances of hardball politics and that action is being taken by patriots, like our Joint Chiefs of Staff, our military leaders, our governors and or everyone else, and there is action being taken to prevent Republicans from stealing the 2020 election.
I can’t find any rational explanation except the two I listed above. I simply cannot believe what is happening and find myself like Winston Smith at the end of 1984 thinking to himself I indeed must be the crazy one.
Republicans are caging human beings, climate change is happening and it’s a ‘debate”. Republicans are adding more trillions to the debt they already created. Republicans raised my taxes and others too, yet they keep saying they lowered them.
Species are dying as we speak. I make ‘too much’ to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough for Medicare so I have no health insurance. Again. We had a nuclear deal with Iran, but now don’t, they’re gearing up to enrich uranium, but somehow that’s ‘better’ and on and on.
I was told I had to accept Nancy Pelosi because she is gritty and a brilliant political operative with the experience necessary to take on Trump & McConnell, yet she and Chuck Schumer just gave those racists a blank check with no strings. I simply don’t know anything anymore and am in a bad place.
I’m still stinging and shunning my neighbor who insists Trayvon Martin deserved to be murdered because he wasn’t “behaving properly’ (he spoke gibberish when we talked) but I don’t dare call my neighbor a racist.
I mention those examples to emphasize what seems obviously absurd yet they’re being done anyway.
I get this nagging feeling we’ve lost and that most Americans don’t care or even know we’re losing our democracy and the Republicans are about to commit heinous crimes against humanity. Then there’s the climate issue.
Does anyone have any thoughts, comments? Am I a fool? I feel helpless and like a fool. Thank you to those who read this and any comments you may make.
I am at work and have to go so I’ll check back later for comments if any, but thanks to all of you here. You keep me somewhat sane. Is there hope or are we ‘done’?
