I live in the solid blue Northeast.
But I’m becoming convinced that the only way to fix this country is to for progressives — who are the biggest voting block, but are concentrated in a limited number of places — to move to the Red states.
In short I want us to move and swing the vote the other way.
But before I pack up and move to Alabama for example (or Florida or Arizona), I want to be humble and ask progressives who already live in the Red states: What do you think?
Would it do any good for me, or many like me — maybe even thousands of progressives— to move to your state?
Could we swing the vote? What would it take?
would it be worth it?
It would be a major upheaval for my family, no doubt, all to add 2 or 3 votes max. (Seriously, a major upheaval.)
But when I think of everything going on right now…and the number of times I ask myself what else I could be doing…
The idea of moving somewhere that my vote could actually matter and make a safe Red district and state turn blue…
it seems crazy, but maybe slightly less crazy than where our country is headed otherwise.
