This is not an argument in favor of, or against an impeachment inquiry, it's not a glorification of the House Speaker, it's not weighing in on “the Squad” tiff. It's just my opinion that accusations of Nancy Pelosi being "lazy" "scared" "timid" "stupid," that she "doesn't know what her constitutional duty is," she wants to "keep her powder dry" at all costs, etc., aren't accurate.
A few examples of Nancy Pelosi and the psych-out war on #45:
- Politico on Pelosi not starting on impeachment and wanting to win in the courts: “Trump clearly doesn’t know how to respond to the barrage of Democratic investigations; they’re winning in the courts and he’s throwing fits.”
- No Big Beautiful Wall funding — this has been so successful, that citizens have taken to building their own, and not with Mexico’s money — "Nancy is never going to give me what I want" he whined
- The govt. shutdown — she held his State of the Union address hostage. In [my] other words “I’m not letting you appear on television!”
- The infrastructure meeting — #45 stormed out into the Rose Garden, to a podium emblazoned with strangely concocted lies and whined like the supremely spoilt child that he is
- Speaker Pelosi indicates she would rather see #45 in prison — #45 blasts her in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, and ends up looking stupid and disrespectful of some of the greatest heroes of WWII
History garnered from various sources, mostly wiki:
- She was the first woman to hold the office of house speaker, breaking the “marble” ceiling.
- Always staunchly pro LGBT - 1996 voted against the Defense of Marriage Act 2004, 2006 – against the Federal Marriage Amendment – supports the Equality Act – opposes the Transgender Military Ban
- As speaker of the House, Pelosi quietly moved the statue of Robert E. Lee from the National Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol to the Capitol crypt. In Lee's place, she had a statue of Rosa Parks erected. In August 2017, Pelosi said she supported the removal of Confederate monuments and memorials from the Capitol Building.
- 2007 as speaker of the House, she spearheaded the Fair Minimum Wage Act
- 2017 she opposed the tax reform signed by #45 describing it as "probably one of the worst bills in the history of the United States of America.”
- 2003 Pelosi voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 and earlier attempts at similar bans
- 2012 she was given a 0% rating by the Gun Owners of America and a 7% rating from the NRA (that’s a great accomplishment!)
- 2016, she advocated for the continued House investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election
- She passed nearly all of President Barack Obama's legislative priorities. Pelosi has been credited for spearheading President Obama's health-care law when it seemed that it would go down in defeat. she rallied her Democratic caucus as she began an "unbelievable marathon" of a two-month session to craft the health-care bill, which successfully passed the House with a 219–212 vote.
- 2008, despite favorability ratings around 30 percent and attacks from the left for not defunding the Iraq War, Pelosi led House Democrats to their second straight wave election
- 2018, Pelosi broke the record for longest speech in the House of Representatives when she spent more than eight hours recounting stories from DREAMers
- 2018 midterm elections, the Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi, won control of the House and gained 41 seats from their total. The 41-seat gain was the Democrats' largest gain of House seats since the post-Watergate 1974 elections, when they picked up 49 seats.
There have also been blatantly sexist, ageist, remarks made about her, and to each their own "ism." People are entitled, this is an open forum.
I just think that when we attack someone, we should do it...intelligently, knowing just who we've put in the crosshairs. Ok kids, fight, but fight fair.
