It has been amply established that Wednesday night’s MAGA rally in Greenville, North Carolina was one of the lowest moments in recent American political history. As Trump continued his attacks on Ilhan Omar, the crowd responded with chants of “Send her back! Send her back!” And Trump, rather than be presidential for once, let them chant it. Even worse, after disavowing it while lying about how he reacted to it, he reversed himself and claimed that those yelling it were “fine patriots.”
Believe it or not, it may have been worse than that. How’s that possible? Well, multiple observers are claiming that the chant wasn’t just a spontaneous outburst of hatred. They say it was coached.
On Saturday night, Omarosa appeared on MSNBC’s “Saturday Night Politics” and dropped a bombshell—some of the scarier chants we’ve heard at Trump rallies are actually coached by campaign staffers.
Wow. Staggering if true. But former Romney 2012 adviser and prominent never-Trumper Stuart Stevens claims that’s exactly what happened—and pointed the finger at First Daughter-in-Law Lara Trump.
Stevens appeared to be referring to how Lara was warming up the crowd before her father-in-law came on stage. While dishing up standard red meat about socialism, infanticide, etc., she said, “If you don’t like our country, the president said it—you can leave!”
That may explain why Anderson Cooper called BS on Lara’s claims on Friday night while recounting how her father-in-law is now okay with the chant.
But does it prove that the chant was planned, though? There’s really not enough--yet—to prove it. However, the mere fact we even have to ask this question is an absolute disgrace.
We have to tread on this very carefully. And that’s especially true since the best-case scenario for Trump—that he simply twiddled his thumbs, then ultimately gave his blessing to this pigweed—is enough by itself to prove not just beyond reasonable doubt, but ALL doubt, that he is a racist.
