The 30th House of Delegates District in Virginia is composed of Madison, Orange, and half of Culpeper Counties. It has been a 60% - 40% Republican district. The incumbent, Nick Freitas, failed to turn in all of his forms to get his name on the ballot for November. He appealed to the State Board of Elections to get his name on the ballot. Last Friday, July 19th, the State Board scheduled a hearing to determine whether or not to put him on the ballot. But Thursday afternoon, Delegate Freitas withdrew his appeal.
Since he was never a certified nominee of the Republican Party, they will be unable to replace him on the ballot. All they can do is run a write in campaign. Therefore, the Democratic Nominee, Ann F. Ridgeway, will be the only name on the ballot. This will mean the margin will be greatly diminished or eliminated, helping not only Ann but two Democratic Nominees for State Senate. Ann would appreciate all the financial
help she can get. Any amount will help to make sure this seat flips. To
