Texas is quickly turning into a battleground state. If Democrats manage to turn Texas blue, it will spell the end of the GOP. All indicators show that it is more than possible that Texas turns blue in the near future. Consider the following:
1) In 2018, Sen. Ted Cruz won re-election by just 2.56 points. In 2012, however, Ted Cruz easily won the election with 56% of the electoral vote.
2) Donald Trump has a net-negative approval rating in Texas.
3) In 2018, Democrats managed to get within striking distance in races that should not have been contested.
4) Hispanics population is growing so fast, that Hispanics could become the majority.
How bad is this for the GOP? If Texas would have gone blue in 2012, Republicans could have won the entire western states + Vermont and DC and still would have lost. But it gets worse. If Texas had gone blue in the 2016 election, Republicans could have won the entire midwest and still would have lost the election.

There is no realistic scenario for Republicans to win the presidency if they lose Texas. Indeed, had Texas gone blue in 2016, Democrats would have gotten the 270 electoral votes they need to win the election.
