I thought that I’d change the venue for this post. Stories are nice when you have time to put your feet up, sip on some unnamed liquid from a pocket flask and shoot the breeze with friends. Surveyors don’t have time for such luxuries, except on rainy days, between calculating and drawing maps. Here are some audio/visual aids to a few things I have been describing. I hope you will enjoy them.
I found this tidbit on new and old Surveying techniques.
The Jacob’s Staff and tripods used to support a compass or level/compass combination.
People that walk through museums, marvel at the items and often wonder how those things were used. I feel privileged that I had the chance to learn about, use old surveying tools and receive the knowledge, from Master’s of the trade, about skills that are slowly disappearing. I’m so glad that many of the DKos members are interested in (or have experiences in) land surveying.
I will proudly relay my stories to all that lend an ear.
Good Morning adventurers
